Hemlock Reishi Mushroom
Ganoderma tsugae
10 cc/mL liquid culture
Ganoderma tsugae is a North American Ganoderma closely associated with eastern hemlock, Tsuga canadensis, and is particularly characteristic of the forests of the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada. This host relationship is reflected in the specific epithet tsugae, derived from the name of the hemlock genus. It is part of the lacquered Ganoderma group that includes familiar names such as Reishi and Lingzhi, while its geographic distribution and affinity for hemlock distinguish it from many other members of the genus. The combination of its North American distribution, host association, and polished reddish surface gives Hemlock Reishi a distinct place among regional Ganoderma taxa.
