Eastern Giant Mushroom
Macrocybe crassa
10 cc/mL liquid culture
Macrocybe crassa is a large member of the family Tricholomataceae and one of the more imposing taxa within its genus, producing broad pale caps and substantial stems. It is associated with tropical and subtropical regions of Asia and has been documented under the genus Macrocybe, a group separated from the more familiar Tricholoma lineage through modern taxonomic work. The genus name Macrocybe combines Greek roots referring to something large and a head or cap, fitting the pronounced scale associated with these forms. M. crassa is particularly notable for its exceptional size, making it a distinctive representative of the genus and an unusual addition to mycological collections.
