Dragon Claw Mushroom is a distinctive cultivated form of Auricularia known for its unusual branching structure. Instead of developing into the familiar ear shaped fruiting bodies commonly associated with Auricularia, this form produces multiple branches and elongated finger like clusters that can develop into a striking coral like or dragon claw appearance.
This unusual morphology is associated with specialized cultivation in China and is particularly interesting for studying how cultivation conditions can influence fruiting body development. Auricularia polytricha is closely associated with Dragon Claw cultivation, although this culture is offered as Auricularia species.
