This remarkable mushroom is known for its deep black fruiting bodies, vivid red bleeding when cut, and fascinating UV reactive properties. Under ultraviolet light, the developing mushroom can produce a striking fluorescent response. The colonized substrate is housed inside a glass skull, allowing you to watch the fungus develop and transform into a unique living display as it begins producing fruiting bodies.

When cut, the mushroom can produce a deep red liquid that gives it the name Bleeding Reishi. Combined with its dark fruiting bodies and UV reactive properties, Amauroderma rugosum is an exceptionally unusual species to watch develop.
